Joined Navy version of TogetherWeServed in an effort to locate former shipmates. Very little luck there, but I allowed an automatic annual renewal a year later.

Two years later, I began receiving e-mail notices that my credit card had expired. The message included a link to update the card. No link, however, to cancel.

I went to the site in an effort to cancel the membership. If the site offers a route to cancellation, I couldn't find it. Thinking that my card expiration would take care of the problem, I stopped looking.

A month later, however, the annual membership charge showed up on my card statement, despite the fact that card had expired. I called the card issuer, and even it had no success in contacting TWS. The card issuer credited my account for the TWS charge and will block any future charges.

TWS may provide a useful means of getting back in touch with fellow servicemen, but it should not be this difficult to end membership. I do not like how they do business.

Reason of review: Problems with payment.

Location: Sheboygan, Wisconsin

I never gave them a CC but yet somehow they charged me... I think the place is a fraud!

Jamel, the only way we would have received our CCard information is only by you entering it. I see that when you joined you chose the trial membership which requires a CC.

It states if not canceled by the 10th day of the trial membership you would be charged in full for the year.

The 19.95 charge is for the entire year. Respectfully Chief Administrator, Togetherweserved.com

Have never, ever been removed from their mailing list - regardless of what they claim here.

Sorry to receive your complaint. Together We Served is very easy to communicate with.

On all correspondence with members, TWS lists a phone number, email address and on every page of every website a live Help Desk link.

There should be no reason a member cannot communicate with the administrators of the site. There is also a cancel membership button on your profile page.

Actually it's very easy to cancel your membership. Go to your profile, look in the lower left hand corner where you will find a cancel subscription button.

We have a redesign coming that will make the process even easier. The cancel subscription will be located in a drop down menu.

If you have any questions or concerns, you are free to call us directly at 888 393-**** or use our online help desk that is open 8am to 8pm eastern time 7 days a week.

There is no drop down menu and no where to cancel subscription. I regret ever signing on.

I joined using the free membership, and decided right away that they didn't offer very much but required a great deal of personal information. Decided I could do without them, but there is no way to cancel even my free account. I would warn all subscribers to be careful about giving this organization any personal information.

Michael we have 12/7/365 live assistance from a veteran admin who can be reached via the online help desk, admin@***.com or tollfree number. This is all very visible on the website and they are there to help.

To find people you have to complete your profile page because we match the duty stations you served in with others who entered the same duty stations at the same time.

No other website does this to this degree.

There are over 1.5 million members on Together We Served and the site has connected more veterans than any other website or organization.

TWS does require some general information as your state and zip code, but you can remove it once you have signed up or hide it. You do have to have a first and last name so others can find you.

You just make it harder for others to find you. You can hide what little information or removed it all together but still have a profile. The site has security, not like FB and others.

It does not cost anything to join TWS. Vetfriends for example requires a card on the spot, all your personal information to send you something and it took five months to stop them from charging my cards.

I called they don't answer.

I sent dozens of emails for all those months. Now they have zero customer care and nothing of value on that site.

You have 1.5 million members simply because there are 1.5 million "members" who also cannot find a link out of that dive...
